The brigands found in Spielburg Valley have long been a nuiscance to the population -- stealing from whomever they could. However, they were kept under control by a population of adventurers and never proved themselves a real threat.
As conditions in the valley worsened, however, and a leader emerged, that began to change. The brigands began to turn into a deadly, terrifying fighting force -- aided by the magical assitance of the Brigand Warlock. It became dangerous for people to traverse the valley, and nearly anyone who went through Spielburg Pass was robbed by them.
Strangely, the Brigand Leader insisted that no one from the town of Spielburg be hurt, and even brought Heinrich Pferdefedern to Amelia Appleberry for healing when he fell victim to the brigands. Such mercies were not granted to strangers to the valley -- such as Abdulla Doo, who was robbed of all of his possessions including his flying carpet when he entered the valley.
An unknown Hero infiltrated the Brigand Fortress and ended their powerful chokehold on the valley. Though some brigands remained after he left the valley, they were soon cleared out entirely by Elsa von Spielburg.
