King Rajah Sah Tarna was originally just the younger brother of Rasha Rakeesh SahTarna, until Rakeesh abdicated his throne. Rajah took his elder brother's place as ruler of the Tarna. Despite his arrogance and temper, Rajah ruled fairly and maintained the honorable reputation of the Sah Tarna Liontaurs. He fought and survived in the second invasion of the demons.

When war began to brew between the Simbani and the Leopardmen, the Council of Judgement sent out a peace mission to the jungles of East Fricana. Rajah placed his niece, Reeshaka Dar Kreesha on the mission as security. When only Khatib Mukar'ram returned, Rajah became furious with the Leopardmen and with himself. He began pushing for the Liontaurs to go to war with the Simbani.

Rakeesh soon arrived with the Prince of Shapeir. Both pledged their honor to Rajah to stop the war. Though Rajah insisted on war, he could not convince his brother that violence was the correct path. This, as well as the human Hero's presence, stirred up many old arguments between the brothers.

Eventually, Rakeesh and the Hero brought about peace negotiations which took place between the two hostile tribes, with their leaders meeting in the Hall of Judgement. Rajah sat in on the meeting. When the Leopardman Chieftain slew Laibon Mkubwa, and was in turn slain by Yesufu, the Liontaur king was furious. He immediately declared war and began to prepare the Liontaurs for battle, sealing the gates of Tarna immediately after the Hero left for the Lost City.
