Prince Cedric is the father of Valanice. He is the beloved husband of the commoner Coignice, and one of the reigning princes of Kolyma. He educated Valanice in all the social graces, preparing her for a station as royalty. Her lady-in-waiting Matilda was chosen by Prince Cedric to care for his little girl in her childhood.
