A Bloated Dire Spider beneath the Beggar's Nest
Dire Spiders are not actually Dire Creatures, despite their name. They are, however, large and deadly spiders that seem to have greater intelligence than the average giant spider. There was one kept in the Neverwinter Academy but even this one could not be tamed or domesticated.
Sometimes, Dire Spiders can grow to a gargantuan size. These spiders, more fearsome and deadly than most, are called Bloated Dire Spiders.
