Bonehead

An eye-less Bonehead in QfG1

The guardian of Baba Yaga's flying hut, Bonehead is enchanted so that he may address visitors to the ogress. He is equipped with a sarcastic attitude and eternal selfishness. He was seldom disturbed in Spielburg Valley, and when he was he insisted on making deals to allow entry to the hut. When an unknown Hero arrived at the gate, Bonehead demanded that he get a glowing gem to serve as eyes. When the Hero retrieved such a gem, Bonehead upheld his end of the deal and allowed the would-be Hero entry into the hut. This would eventually be Baba Yaga's undoing.

Bonehead4

A hat-less Bonehead in QfG4

Though the hut took off as soon as Baba Yaga was defeated, it soon returned to retrieve its guard. Bonehead soon found himself guarding the hut once more, this time in Mordavia. When the Hero showed up, Bonehead insisted on a new item -- a hat. The Hero brought him Nikolai's Hat, which satisfied the skull. He even gave the Hero advice on creating the Elderbury Pie that Baba Yaga demanded.

Memorable Quotes[]

  • "YEEEECH! Is THAT what you look like?"
  • "Trying out for the soup dujour or auditioning for the main course?"
  • "You're the one with the skull still stuffed with brains -- use them!"

Real World[]

Though Bonehead is only a character featured in Quest for Glory I: So You Want to be a Hero? and Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness, he makes a cameo appearance as an easter egg in AGDI's King's Quest II: Romancing the Stones as one of the two skulls guarding Hagatha's Cave.

In a strange and unexplained retcon, the gem in Quest for Glory 1 is red but Bonehead's eyes have turned blue in Quest for Glory 4.
